Who is it for?

​

A good choice for people who have done little or no research into their ancestors and who want a family tree from scratch, up to and including their great grandparents. The sources used enable you to build up a comprehensive picture of your ancestors, including where they lived and died, where they travelled, who they married, their occupations and military service.

What is included?

​

• A free initial assessment of the available material.

• Research and reporting time and travel to archives within the Cotswold area.

• A family tree in the format of your choice (e.g. a printed copy or GEDCOM file, which can be used with an online site such as Family Search, Ancestry or Find my Past) including the names, dates and places of birth, marriage, and death of your direct ancestors.

• (Photo books are also available, see our services page for details).

• Digital copies of all relevant documents including:

• Baptism, marriage, and burial entries in Parish Church or Nonconformist registers (before 1837).

• Birth (from 1837 to 1916) marriage and death certificates (from 1837 to 1957) for all direct ancestors (the cost, currently £7 for a PDF copy from the General Registry Office is included in this package).

• Copies of census returns and registers (1841-1939) that include your ancestors.

• Transcriptions of available wills and entries in probate calendars.

• Copies of family notices in newspapers.

• A summarised report on the research conducted, listing all the sources used with full citations, analysis, and conclusions.
